What is an electronic security?
Electronic securities (or security tokens) are digital versions of traditional securities. They represent ownership or rights to assets.
Electronic securities include securities within the meaning of § 4 para. 3 of the Electronic Securities Act ("eWpG") or crypto-assets within the meaning of § 1 para. 11 sentence 4 of the Banking Act ("KWG"), as well as, in the future, within the meaning of Article 3 para. 1 No. 2 of the proposed Regulation on Markets in Crypto-Assets.
